Getting a million notes and ideas on digital paper

30 December. 16.30. Coffee bar in Prague that serves great Prosecco. I am cheering with my (soon-to-be-former) colleague who turned into my best friend. ‘Cheers to closed chapters and closing laptops.” I dramatically and symbolically close my work laptop. For the very last time.
One week later: the first week of the year 2022. I am waking up without having a job — intentionally. It’s time to live up to the promise I made to myself: put all those 10000+ notes that are lying around in my apartment, on my phone and desk, and in my head, on digital paper.
I’ve already started 100 times. 101 things interfered with my plans. (Or, should I say; ‘I made up 101 excuses’?) But now I’m starting for the last time.
I cannot point out the day that I became a writer. Let’s keep it simple and say that I’ve always been one. An observer of the world. Crazy about stories and books. About people’s ideas and views. New lessons to learn. Sharing and forwarding them. Bothering friends and strangers with new book titles that they absolutely must read (sorry for the book spam, everyone). And about transforming those input, experiences, and conversations into stories, to beautify someone’s perception of the world.
At least my perception. One other persons’ perception is already a dream that I wish to become true. After all, what else is writing about?
So, now my letters and words will have to do it for me. The wishes that I had about being a writer are now real life. I’m not talking getting published. Let’s mark that goal for later. I am talking about transfering my creativity onto digital paper.
No doubt, not thinking about consequences and next steps to take. Who will read these words? Someone? No one?? Anyone??? But the only thing to do now is to ‘underthink’ all the practical questions and just start.
On to the next idea, word, sentence, article. ENTER.
