I made this promise to myself 2.5 (!) years ago: Commit to a life of writing and finish writing a book, because that's what you’ve always dreamed of doing.

So how is it going? ✨

• Started writing Nora’s book in May 2022 and wrote “The End” in July 2023. I shed a tear and opened a 🍾

• Took a break before implementing three rounds of feedback. This means: lots of rewriting but also hearing strangers say that they loved my MC, laughed out loud, and didn’t want scenes to end. 

• I have been querying agents since March 2024 and have received 25 form rejections. One agent assistant asked for a full copy to forward to the submission team. I am still waiting for a reply, but it was the first human reaction, so it felt like a little light on the query horizon.

• I learned so much! Omg! About books, characters, publishing, art, writing writing writing, presentation, language, being an artist, myself.

How is it really going?

​Uhhh… Sometimes I’m insecure about the process (and myself and my art and my Dutch/English language) and often impatient because I want to share my book with basically everyone, but mostly soooo good because I did what I promised myself. And I spend my days with words and fiction. 📚📝📖❤️
